Linksys Act light is flashing crazy when it connected to the charter cable modem?

I am trying to make home network.
I can't get cable connection through the router, instead I can get connection directly from PC -- cable modem

The Act light doesn't flash, when the router is connected to a DSL modem.

It would really help if you specified the make/model of router, the O/S in use, etc.

Have you reset the router to factory defaults and tried connecting. Most DOCSIS cable modems will function through the router without any settings being changed...

its the communication between the programs running and system communication.

I am running winxp pro and using BEFSR11 cable/dsl router

I reset it many times. The weird thing it, it was working this morning at 4am, when I got up at 11am, the router doesn't like cable modem anymore. But it works fine with my dsl cable.

Connect it to the non-working modem. Power EVERYTHING down. Power up the modem, let it sync. Power up the router and let it get connected. Power up the computer and see if you are connected.

right, I forgot that, had to do it myself once when power went out.
I have it all on a ups now and it don't do that anymore.

I reset the linksys and the pc, but it didn't solve the problem.

Then I reset the cable modem, now it works. But the Act is still flashing like crazy, even though my pc is turn off.

I would not worry about the led flashing,
you know it is not the computer causing it.
its the communication betwen the isp and the router,
its looking for any signal to answere.
at least that the way I understand it

My activity light flashes all the time. It used to be much more indicative of actual activity, but since a recent Comcast change, it's just continuous. I connected directly and checked, and I'm in an ARP blizzard, don't know why they have the problem. I called them, but they didn't do anything, so unless the network stops working, I'll ignore it.
