Picked this up off another forum, but I can't find anything at the Maxtor.com site that links to it. Interesting if it works

I'll have to try it as soon as I get a chance. THe way it reads is that it looks like you will reserve a part of System RAM to add to the HD Cache. Be neat if you will be able to designate the amount of RAM. You also have to wonder how it will work when you have a mixed set of hard drives from other manufactures.
I have a test machine in my truck here at work so after everybody leave I will take a look at it.

Just answered my own questions at this link

Please note:After you install the MaxBoost software, it will be enabled for use under the MaxBoost Software License until June 30th 2004.

It ran fine for me when I had it, seemed to make benches go crazy with data being cached and all, like 600plus megs per sec tranfer. Maxtor is supposed to release a final ver when they get it all set. Supposedly.

Very interesting. I'll wait until there is a final version release to try it out.

I was going to try it but it doesn't support Hyper-Threading. I'll kep it in mind if they get it finalized. Thanks for the links.

Thanks for the link. I loaded it and seems to work just fine with some noticable improvement in speed. It has a disabling feature that will disable or enable the software with a couple of clicks if there is some reason you might want to change. Looks like its going to be a great program. I'm running 2 Maxtor, SATA 150, (not RAID) 80 gig drives.

Seems fine for me. I'm using a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120 GB drive w/ 8MB cache, and now 16MB due to the Maxboost Proggie...

Now I just hope that WD and the others will do the same...
