I have a black case with 2 beige CD/DVD drives. Is there any paint that I can use to paint over them black that won't come off or wreck my drives?

ric449,

Just use normal car spray paint.

I used spray paint (got it from Halfords) on my DVD-ROM, DVD-RW and Floppy and it's made a nice job.

Check the pic of my sprayed drives....

Krylon Fusion spray paint seems to work the best.

Take one of your case panels into Halfords and the guys will match the colour for you. Can of spray paint - 5 quid.

I never used primer but it made no difference, the paint has adhered well.

BTW, I've not found a UK supplier of the above mentioned Krylon spray paint.

Ok, i'll use the car paint. But can you tell me how you did it? Because i'm thinking that if i just spray it on the paint will get into the drive and screw it up.

No problem's there.

Follow these instructions..

(1) With the PC switched on, open the drive tray and remove the tray front panel (unclips from underneath).
(2) Close drive (without tray front panel), power down the system and remove the drive from the case.
(3) Remove the larger front panel (unclips from side and underneath) - you'll need a screwdriver for this to unhook the clips.
(4) If your front panel has a small translucent LED bit of plastic remove that as well.
(5) Spray both panels 15" from plastic, evenly and let them dry for 30 minutes.
(6) Place the larger front panel back on the drive and place the drive back into the machine.
(7) Power up the machine, open the drive and place smaller panel back on (it slides on from the top down).

Thats it!

Heres a pic to try and explain it better.....

Can the front plate come off floppy drives as well? Because I have a cover for that but you can see the beige coming from behind it.

Yes you can remove the front plate of the floppy drive as well. It's a little more tricky doing a floppy because the front flap does not usually come off. Just make sure you keep the front flap open when spraying and drying.
The eject button can also be removed.
