ive got AVG virus scanner, and it keeps popin up this message saying it is detecting this virus, and i should run AVG for windows to find and destroy it. So i do a scan with AVG and it doesnt find anything. also ran ad aware and spybot. and avg is still giving me the message.

Run spybot search and destroy and adaware to get rid of the adware trojan. AVG is working correctly as the computer does have a malious script on it. Also look to update you definition files if they are not up to date. It is best to manually update with AVG as the way the update engine schedules (by time) is kinda hit or miss.

sometimes starting in safe mode and running some scans helps me. maybe it'll work for you, too.

Use the Windows Search feature to find out what folder this thing is in then just throw it away.

Don't know what those things are, but it seems they try to "phone home" as I get warnings from the Sygate or Kerio firewalls I run that the files are trying to get on-line.

you should try housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp) . If it won't load try running an alternate browser to load it. If that won't work try going to pcpitstop (www.pcpitstop.com) . If that don't work try a google search for panda antivirus, they have a scan too but you should have some sort of confirmation before this. You could have a false positive. Get a second opinion, soon!!

I forgot> If you are runniing Windows XP it is highly likely that this is coming from the Windows restore file. So you need to turn it off which will delete all the restore files to date, then you can turn it back on.
