Half Life install

when i try to load the game half life i cant complete the installation. it starts to install but then it locks up my system. and i get a warning message that says, (uninstaller setup failed to initailize. you may not be able to uninstall this product) i tried to use scandisk to see if i have a bad file or something but nothing shows up. the warning message shows up and then i click ok, then the programs trys to load and then my system locks up. how can i find out why i cant load half life. is the version of half life iam useing to old? this computer iam using is brand new and the version of haf life is a few years old. can anyone give me any ideas please.

i see no one is answering this post. cant someone give me any ideas what would cause this ?

Are you trying to install the game from the actual game cd, or is it a burned copy?

I had the same problem trying to install Empire Earth, are you sure your disk isn't dirty or damaged?

thanks for the reply but i have fixed this problem by reformating the hdd and loading half life before the other drivers for the rest of my computer components.
