I am very angry. I've had this computer for nearly 3 months\, and I have kept it very clean. Just today though I open IE and my homepage is locators.com! These stupid annoying locator toolbars and home page that keeps changing back to locators is really pissing me off. How do i get rid of them for good?! I've already tried spybot with the latest updates.

ErnieNow,

I just read in another post about running Spybot or Ad Aware in safe-mode.
Give it a try.

I haven't downloaded anything recently, thats whats got me stumped. I have been site surfing for cool backrounds though - didnt d/l anything. I'll try the safemode thing.

ALso, I can see sometihng in add/remove progs called web assisstant, though i can't remove it.

Ad-aware has the Locator.com hijacker in it's target base and should get rid of it. If it doesn't want to fix it, try running it in safe mode.

Thanks redo, is it a comparable program to spybot? I don't want one of those intrusive progs that's just as bod as the one I want gone!

Ad-aware is a good program...I run it and Spybot both on a regular schedule.

Also, besides running spybot & adaware, make sure nothing unwanted is not starting up in msconfig. i once had a program called systray_.exe starting up that was actually a virus, so be aware of tricks like this! good luck.
