I've just built my brand new computer and the norton virus protection currently running on my system has detected a "Trojan dropper" it says it tried to clean and quarentine it but both these actions failed due do denied access. i cannot delete it manually or clean it becuase when i right click it and try these things and error message reads, "The files have been moved or deleted, or the computer they are located on is turned off, or you are trying to clean files located in an email message." I have not checked my email in weeks, my computer is not turned off and i have not intentionaly moved or deleted the files. Also the file that norton says the virus is in does not exist on my machine. I checked and even did a search. How do i get rid of this stupid thing......Thanks for all your help.

Run your scan in safe mode... if it still doesn't work... go to safe mode with network support and try Housecall (http://housecall.antivirus.com).

this may seem like a stupid question but how do i restart my computer in safemode, and the exact message when i try to delete the trojan dropper reads
Norton AntiVirus cannot perform this action on 1 of the files youselected.
Possible causes:
-The files have been moved or deleted
-The computer they are located on is turned off
-You are tryin to clean files located in an e-mail message.
PS. I know where i recieved this virus.....It was off of and Aol instant messanger profile that had a link. Dont know if that helps but thanks for the replys.
O and the folder it says it is in is C:\Doucuments and Settings\Chase Brumfield\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Fils\Content.IE5\CRLKP7CF\
And as i said earlier this file does not exist on my system......after i reach the folder "Chase Brumfield" there is not Local Settings folder and inturn I cannot find the other folders
Thanks for the relplys

To get into safe mode, restart your computer and hit F8 after the POST and before you get to the Windows load screen. You will then be given the option to boot into safe mode.

are you saying it shows up in your log?if so, that is normal if housecall and your anit virus are showing nothing ,then your okay, just make sure you keep your anti-virus up to date.
