My question is what is dllhost.exe do for the Internet. I have been running Zone Alarm for over a year and just purchased the program from them. It seemed to slow the Internet down a lot at times. The tool bar icon showed activity all the time. Down loads were fast but going to a new site was very slow at times.
I just updated Ad-aware and it found dllhost.exe and said it was a info grabber. I had it enabled in Zone Alarm and never thought much about it. I allowed Ad-aware get rid of it and it has increased the speed of my Internet 10x. My ZA icon sits there doing nothing for minuets at a time.
This program was sitting in (WinXP) winnt\system32\wins\dllhost.exe What is it and who put it there and why did Ad-aware just find it? The entire time I've been writing this, there has been no internet activity acording to the ZA icon. Another thing I think it was doing was using up my memory resources. After the computer was on for about 2 hrs, about 170 to 200 meg of memory was being used by a program call vsmon.exe and that is no longer happing.
Sorry for the length of this but felt all info was necessary.

Check out this web page (http://www.pchell.com/virus/welchia.shtml)...has information about the MS Blaster worm (Welchia or Nachi worm variants) and the dllhosts.exe file.
