I was thinking of buying the 256mb version of this card but someone said it had slower memoery on the 256 version is this true and if it is is it still worth getting the 256mb?

Actually i thought the 256MB version had slower memory too. i just checked on newegg and the 128 and 256 version of the sapphire 9600xt both have clock speeds of 500 core and 600 memory. the 128 version is $170 and the 256 is $189. for that price it would make more sense to get the 256 version. although you don't really need that much video ram for today's games, tomorrow's more demanding games are just around the corner (think half life 2 and doom 3).

From what I've read the 256mb version of the 9600 Pro had slower memory (DDR1 as opposed to DDR2). As fas as I know though, both the 128mb and 256mb version of the 9600XT use DDR2. HTH
