Hey guys,

I dled this Halo keygen the other day and when I double clicked it, nothing. So I destroyed it using Steganos Security Suite 5. Nothing big I thought. Now, a file called spooluj.exe keeps trying to access the Internet (ZoneAlarm notifiys me) and I think "Hey, I haven't heard of this file before?" So I found it in the Windows folder. It has the same icon as that Halo keygen had. I thought it might have been a virus but it was destroyed. Do any of you know what spooluj.exe is? Another file called svchost.exe also has the same icon and they are both exactly the same size, 61KB and modified at the same time. Can you please advise me what to do? I installed NAV 2004 Pro and preformed a system scan, but they didn't come up. Oh but I had 11 files contaminated with different virii but I dont think it was either of those 2 files, I'm not sure. I attached the icon, just in case u mite want to c it.

Thanks,

mickmcc

Sounds like just an execute file that accompanied the download. Sometimes they will store exe files apart from the program files so you may have to scan that file 1st then attempt to delete. maybe try checking the name against the virus dictionary 1st to see if anything comes up. i suspect it is for the online gamming portion of Halo. Let me know

Your svchost.exe file needs to access the net, but I'm not sure about the other one. As far a I know, that spooluj.exe shouldn't be there and it has no good reason for needing to get to the net, unless it is trying to ship out your IP or something, which you don't want it doing. Get rid of it.

Well... I'll say this... thats what you get for dealing with hacks, cracks, warez, etc.

Do you know a trojan when you see it?
Get rid of that file now!

You should get trojanhunter (http://sh1204.sajthotellet.com/trojanhunter/) . More than likely your "keygen" was/is a trojan. TrojanHunter is free for thirty days. If you have used it before it will not work after the thirty days.
