I have 2 questions about Norton Ghost:

1. What is an image file? Like it says in the manuel, "cloning a partition to an image file".

2. What do these transfer methods mean:
a. Local
b. LPT > Master
c. USB > Master
d. TCP/IP > Master

I will be simply cloning my C partition to another partition on the same drive.

Ghosting to an image file creates a single file of everything on your hard drive. It can be compressed, but it usually doesn't compress too much, so the image file usually comes out a bit smaller than the total amount of data on your drive.

Local if for transferring between two drives or partitions that are phiscally connected to the same computer.

LPT Master is the drive that you are going to transfer from through the printer port.

USB Master for transferring though the USB port.

TCP/IP for transferring through a network.

You will just be using local.

I use DriveImage4.0 by PowerQuest. The compressed Image File of my 2.3gig win2k file is just 1.07gig.
