I have played BF1942 and its a blast even tho there is alot of lag and I get kick from some servers for to high ping. Besides I don't want to ruin other peoples game. Are there any good games out there that I can play with a dial-up connection? I really like any kind of game, but driving and killing stuff are my favorites but something tells me there are not going to be many of those types of game that will work very good with a dial-up connection.
Thanks..

Tribes1 and 2 play nicely on a good hardware modem.

Unreal 1 baby... classic Unreal Co-op rocks! A lot of servers have lots of modifications though, so look for one without anything extra to download.

I have to disagree. You will get a lot of lag trying to move your guys to where you want them to be.

O man im practiclly pro on Starcraft and Broodwar, possibly the best game ever. (no im not kidding, so much strategy, the more you play the more strategy you realize the game has.) I would have to say though that i have a "good" dial-up connection. I never lag even with my 56k.
Go for Starcraft/Brood War

StarCraft and WarCraft2 B.net edition. They were both made before anyone had hi-speed and when ppl had much slower computers so they are OK on dial-up, although youll still lag a bit. StarCraft is the best game ever made! Who cares it it has bad graphics, you play for the game not eye candy :)

Ragnarok Online?
Well you COULD play War2 B.net edition, but considering there are a whopping 25-50 people on U.S. East at peak times, so...I don't recommend it. But yeah, SC and BW are both great games. You can check into Diablo I and probably even Diablo II. You probably won't be able to run Lord of Destruction, the expac to Diablo II, but the vanilla version isn't halfbad.
I don't really...know any other games (heh, notice those are all made by Blizzard...)
Actually, Soldat is a pretty hilarious game. Probably more for LAN's, as I think the only other multiplayer is w/ bots. It's like a 2-d sidescroller Counter-Strike. I guess it's more for laughs than competitive play, but I suppose it's worth checking out. I do believe it is free, too

SC and BW, they are the best game just behing tft, only difference is tft is not well balanced and BW is, b4 all hacks, I used to be in the top 150-200 ladder with 56k, even if you lag, your opponent will too, just use that against him; people don't like lag even if it's really small. Just play the REAL game, no money gg :D

Power Overwhelming (I jsut had to say that man I love Starcraft). I was also ranked not as high as Sakeo but around 500 and I had 56k so the lag is fine on it. When I played Warcraft III on 56k I had no lag but it also depends on how fast you connect.

I think Age of Empires would work fine on dial up. I don't know however.

Believe it or not, my Dad is still hooked on Quake 2, and plays daily on dial-up. He's in an area where broadband is not available. He wins LOTS of games as well.
Its just hard for me to believe that so many people still play that game, but he says the servers he plays on are always full:)
