No problem, glad I could help :).
There is a learning curve with these things. Check out www.dvdhelp.com
But the simplest is EASY VCD. It's like one button. It's good if you don't need subtitles. I view a LOT of foreign movies.
The trick to burning VCDs is to use VCD Easy V 1.15. You can still get a free copy here: http://www.pc-magazin.de/common/dtt/download.php?areaid=66&fileid=2245
I could never get Nero or Roxio to work.

Free, Morris. The man is looking for free.
Ripping DVDs isn't an exact sciene. One side is trying to build a better mouse. The other side is trying to build a better mousetrap.
For simple DVDs, Easy VCD is about as easy as you get. If you want foreign movies, DVD2SVCD is pretty good. It looks a bit intimidating at first.
I have a video capture card and like to plug in the external DVD player and capture with Virtual Dub. I do this because I like Chinese movies. The subtitles aren't always where they're supposed to be. Also, more than once I got the wrong audio track on American movies because of Director's Comments. Virtual Dub allows me to set up the the correct perameters.
It's a lot of work and I only do it for rare or the out of print.
