Yeah, I've been using Open Office for a couple of months now, and I like it a lot. Does what I need, and it's free.

Yep, Open Office is a good alternative to Microsoft's Office.
For most people, it'll work just fine.
If people are going to convert Open Office to MS Office format, I highly recommend saving the original work in the native Open Office format first for backup. Sometimes, especially in Presentation/PowerPoint conversion the thing can get goofy. It might take a couple of tries to get a successful conversion to MS Office.
The schools I work in use Star Office (which is actually Open Office), because it is free to schools (and students, teachers, etc) compared to the yearly site licensing fee required by MS.
For those who only need the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint featues of MS Office, Open Office is an excellent alternative. The thing works.

That's why I use it, and you're right, it works. It works very well for me.
