I'm having spybot problems and I don't know why.
It just quit working at 10:20 pm.
Anyone else stuck with this ?

pam,
The only problem I have with Spybot is that it won't update when asked too. It locks up.
Other times I'll look for updates, it finds them and d/ls them no problem.

I have had it freeze up every time I tried to run it on a win98 system before, but a reinstall took care of it. Don't have a clue what went wrong.

I've found that using the Australia download site (instead of the default Europe site) avoids this problem. I believe that Sarge first found this solution.

The Europe site never works, there is a USA Site that works fine.

Interesting!

When I open the program>search for updates>d/l updates, there is no choice of sites.
Apparently there is a way to update from their site online?

On mine, across the top (beside where it says Download Updates, its says Unido (Europe) and there is a down arrow beside it, clidk on the arrow and you will say choices

had a problem yesterday,
There were new detection rules (700k) dated 31 Dec 2003 and after downloading I got the "Bad checksum error" message. Tried it on 4 PC's, same problem. Just tried the Aussie site and it updated fine.

I got an error on the FXClips US site yesterday, had to use one of the European sites, go figure.

Prew, didn't even know I had a problem with spybot until I read about the update problems. when I tried to update, it shut down my whole computer. After rebooting, I tried to update again only this time I used the Aussie website. No problems. Thanks a bunch Prew. thorlo6

Thanks, but I do not take credit, Sarge was the first one to point out this solution

Only my sincere humility and meekness prevent my taking credit for that piece of info :D

If you go to spybots site it tells you it locks up because the update server is busy. Thats why it works when you switch to a new location.

When I update Spybot it does look like it locks up, but I just leave it and go do something else. After awhile, it completes the update and everything is fine. The first few times I encountered the lockup, I end tasked it...but now I just leave it and it eventually finishes on it's own. It is kinda weird how it appears to lock up though.
