problem with downloads

Im having a problem recently with broadband, whenever i try to download certain stuff it goes to the retrieving file information page and then freezes straight away! Some files download fine, anyone know what it might be?

Do you mean your computer freezes or the download just stops? After I installed win2000 downloads would just stop after a minute but it went away after I got all the updates.

When you say certain stuff, what do you mean? MP3's? WMP files? Quicktime files? Maps to a game at a certain site only?

it could be that some of the downloads aren't completing all the way and causing them to freeze.
