Burn PS1 games

Hey, i was just wondering if there's a way to burn ps1 games, and they work in a ps1 console? I have a few old games that i wanna copy because ive already lost some of my favs :(. I wanna have an extra copy, just in case :p

Yes it is very possible and legal to do if it is just to make a backup copy of your original game which you already own.

Unfortunately PlayStation discs are deliberately scattered with bad sectors (if I remember rightly) and the PS1 itself can detect whether the disc you have put in is the original or not.

For this you'll need to have your Playstation 'chipped'. This is fairly easy to do if you have moderate soldering skills (I've done it myself in the past)

The chip costs about £4 from what I remember. Available from places like www.mod-chip.com and www.quasarelectronics.co.uk

or you can play it in an emulator on your computer for your backups... they have software mod-chips

Just make sure your backup is a good one burnt at a slow speed and you should be fine!

they have external mod chips for the playstation original. You basically just plug em in

I personally like largosama's idea- just copy the disc to your hard-drive. :)

The advantage of this- 1) you protect the disc, 2) no need to change discs, 3) hard-drive access if faster than CD-ROM access, however I'm not entirely sure you will see any decrease in load times.

The disadvantage is you take up a lot of hard-drive space. :( If your really determined, you can download ISOs, but that is 1) illegal, 2) most are virus/include virus, or are simply the wrong thing altogother, 3) it takes a long time(even with apps like Kazaa...) and 4) even if the ISO works, many people take out cut scenes and some audio(like codec conversations in the MGS series).
