I am running Win98SE through a D-Link broadband router with
sysgate firewall software. Tonight I tried to open up Word and
Sysgate popped up saying that Winword.exe was trying to
access crl.verisign.com (198.49.161.205). I've never see word
want to do that before. So I tried to close word and had
to "end task" it. Thinking I had a virus I started up Norton and
got the same Sysgate message that Nav32.exe was trying to
access the same address. I finally got Norton to come up and
running a full system scan, I have the latest definitions
released today.

Any thoughts?

thanks
mike

Disable the sysgate from loading at bootup and see if problem continues. Also, see if this entry exists:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe

Just saw a post on another forum from a fella suffering the same problem I noticed last nite. After the Norton updates yesterday, when I tried to shut down last nite, an "end task" option screen came up for Norton. Happended again this morning. Also takes a long time to open the Norton screen. Think Symantec messed up the upgrade.
