ok I am not sure if this is the right place for this post, but here it goes. I work for a small Biz we have around 20 computers (most of witch is running win 98 one is running win 2000 and the server is NT 4.0) The servers tape back up drive failed, My boss thought it would be better to buy an Exturnal HD and Back up to it. He also buoght Norton Ghost to do the back ups. Today he had me install it ( he knows very little about computers, I have an Associates Degree in computer systems & Networking Technology. Ok yeah I know big woop lol.) Ok all was going well I installed the ex hd shared it I can see it from the server and can make files on it. OK now when I start Norton Ghost it lets me run through the whole thing till I get to" run back up now" then I get the error "The task could not be started because the file G:\01-07-04c&d could not be created" and after clicking ok it closes. I have the hd set up on another computer because the server does not have usb ports. I maped the drive, I know I have the rights to write to this drive, Is there something I am over looking. Thank you for any help on this.

You need a Ghost diskette with USB and network support, and during the boot to that diskette, you need to watch and see if it finds the "G" drive successfully.
I have never done any ghosting via Windows, and didn't know it was possible, so permissions, and mapping shouldn't even come into play here.
It would be easier to mount a second drive in the system you want to backup, and then ghost to it directly.

Here's a great tutorial about using Ghost. I used it awhile back to move 98se to a different hdd. Worked great for me.
