How do I get rid of this virus???

I somehow got a virus on a file sharing site. I ran AVG and it got rid of most of them, there were tons. There is one left. It is a file svckernell.exe. and AVG identifies it as Worm/Astaber.A. AVG can't seem to quarantine it or delete it. It's trying to access the internet but Zone Alarm won't allow it. What can I do????????

Start the computer in Safe Mode.

Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
Type regedit

Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)


Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run


In the right pane, delete the value:


"svckernell" = "c:\windows\svckernell.com"


Exit the Registry Editor.


Find that file and delete it.

Thank you very much! Everything appears normal now. No more downloading exe. files from unknown sources for me.
