I am running Win 2000 Pro - can I set my PC to power on automatically at a set time when it is switched off?

you can do it in the BIOS... Just make sure you properly shut down your system, no hibernation or pressing the power button. Usually, it;s under power management of sorts. I used to use it for my alarm, but i now just keep my computer on for Folding@home... check out teh thread in the distributed computing forums
