Hi,
I am pretty sure there is a setting somewhere to do this, but I can't find it.
When I open a new window in Internet Explorer (from a url for example), the new window is always very small and I have to maximize it.
Does anyone know where the setting is (or of there is a setting) to automatically maximize new windows?
Thanx,
Cath

1. open IE
2. maximize the window (or resize for that matter)
3. close the window
All subsequent IE windows will open maximized (or whatever you resized to).
You need to resize the secondary window manually, not by using the maximize button. The maximize button is a temporary setting that IE won't remember.
After grabbing and stretching the secondary window to the size and position you want, be sure to close the original IE window first, then the secondary window you resized.

I believe there is a workaround. It is a registry tweak, and I do not remember where the exact registry key is. Very sorry to be this unhelpful.
How you do it is modify the registry setting for the default opening window size to you current desktop resolution minus taskbar height (for 1152x864, that is 1152x808). This will cause IE to open at full desktop size, but not in the maximized mode.

Thank you!
I never manually maximized the windows and for me that was the trick, thank you. So what I am doing now is the first time I open IE, I shrink the window (it starts maximized), then I manually maximize it. Then all other windows come up maximized, including windows from subsequent start ups of IE.
I am glad I asked! I would never have figured that out :) Thank you also phiilanp- but the registry - well I like to stay away from it.
bye for now,
Catherine

Yeah, I hate it when I shrink a window then all of them open up that size. I never knew the surefire way to fix it, but whenever a small one opened up, I would just drag it to its regular size, and that always fixed the problem..
