View Full Version : What is happening to all the good download sites?

Hi Ho

I want to download demos of games along with other stuff but the good sites are dissapearing fast. I refuse to wait in line at File Planet. It's a ploy to get you to subscribe. Now several other sites are doing the same thing. Download.com used to be good but now they make you download their "acceleration" software witch makes it slower and probably contins spyware. It also doesn't let me choose where I want to save the file. What is a good download site?

Why don't you do a search for a private ftp site that specializes in games.

You could also use P2P apps to search for and download game demos.

You could do that, but then you often have to worry about that spyware, and possibly viruses. It's much easier to find a reputable site (ie Download.com, but as Hi Ho, they're going downhill, especially with that accelerater thing, which I refuse to use)

Hi Ho, sorry if these aren't any good, but I just did a quick google search and came up with these two. They seemed like the best of the results.

Game Demo (http://www.gamedemo.com/)
Demo-Files (http://www.demo-files.com/)

Zac, that is not the type of site that Hi Ho is talking about. Suprnova is a site offering pirated software, music, movies, etc.. All of which is not allowed here at PCMech. I realize that you're new and may not know this, so I suggest that you read the FAQ (http://forum.pcmech.com/misc.php?s=&action=faq).
