I'm trying to install a Maxtor ATA SATA drive with a ASUS K8V Deluxe motherboard. The system is not recognizing the ATA HDD in the Boot Device Priority. I'm looking in the RAID BIOS and I can see the Maxtor HDD. How do I set the BIOS to recognize the ATA drive and not the IDE drive.
No OS has been installed, this is a new system I'm trying to build on my own. All was going well, until now. Please help.
Thanks!

Are you wanting to install the OS to the SATA? If answer is yes and the OS is XP read on. If not or the OS isn't XP skip this reply.
You have to get the DATA drivers off the CD that came with your mobo and put them on a floppy. Open CD, open folder called Drivers, open folder called SATA. I copied all but the readme and PDF files.
Insert the floppy and set BIOS to boot from CD. Boot up with XP CD in drive and when Windows prompts you to hit F6 if you have 3rd. party drivers, do so. It will load the drivers from the floppy and continue with the install. Leave the floppy in as it will access it again near the finish.
After install is completed, change the BIOS boot order to boot from SCSI.

Thanks confused - yes I'm wanting to install the OS on SATA. I guess I'm off to Best Buy to purchase a FDD. I elected not to get one, being that I never use it, I guess I now know what I need one.
I'll give this a try and hope it works.
Thanks! :D
