Ok, I got a new western digi 160 gig drive. I have the c drive working and im typing this thread on the machine right now. However, I tried to set it with 3 partitions, a 20 gig C drive and two 70gig drives. WHat windows did was make a 20, a 70, and a 40. I can get the last 20 gigs. I tried data lifegard that WD gives, but it doesnt seem to work. I also tried computer managment in windows, and I see the 20 gigs but it says unallocated and it wont let me add it to the other drives. I tried deleting a partition and now I have a C: (20gigs) a D: (70gigs) one says Free Space (40gigs) and the last says unallocated (my 20 gigs im not getting). Does anyone know how to fix this, im dying here trying to figure it out. Thanks.

Two possible causes.
Your motherboard BIOS doesn't recognize drives that large, or you've run into the XP size limit.
If it's XP, get the XP drive size limit update from Microsoft. I can't find the link right now, sorry.
If that's not it, update your BIOS.

I already did the Microsoft update patch for drives over 135. I will flash my bios right now and report back.

Well I flashed the bios, tried everything. Nothing is working. I am what you would call stumped, very very stumped.

reboot

Me too. Maybe try reinstalling the XP patch, now that the BIOS supports it.
Does BIOS correctly report the size?

Ok under my HDD in the bios is says "Capacity 160GB" so I guess that means it knows it?

Windows "seems" sto be seeing the space, but just not letting my use it. It knows the drive is 160, but is leaving 20 unallocated.

Im lost.

Edit: Im going to use the DOS version of Western Digital Lifegard and just format everything again, hopefully that will work.

What you need is a tool like Partition Magic. It will allow you to allocate the last 20 Gigs or so to your C Drive.

It will? If you are sure ill just go run out and buy to end this frustration!

EDIT: Partician Magic worked. Thanks to all those that helped me out!

No problem. And I knew it would work because my uncle had the same problem and I helped him fix it with Partition Magic :D.

Look get partion magic and resize the partion:-) Just drag the partion to the end and click on update.
Then your drive will show the correct size and will be able to use all the drive.
I had the same problem with my drive 160 showing 137 ? now i get 156 gig showing up.
