Maybe it's my imagination but has anyone used both Winamp and Windows Media Player for playing mp3 songs and noticed that the quality of the songs are better when using Winamp. In Windows Media Player the quality sounds a little scratchy. That scratchiness is gone with Winamp.

The other thing is that often times but not in every case when I change the file names of the mp3 songs, it still comes up with a different title in the mp3 player window. I've tried to change the name in
the view menu of the player changing the title in the ID3v1 and ID3v2 sections but it just goes back to the name it had before when viewed in the playlist window. Does anyone know how I can edit the titles of mp3 songs so that it shows up properly in the playlist window.

I don't have Winamp but my WMP9 sounds excellent. I edit song names in WMP. Not the files themselves.

i've noticed it sounds better in winamp, too.

as far as editing the names of files, are they write protected? i've had that problem before with write protected mp3s.

I also like Winamp better than WMP.

Not sure on editing the track info though.

I noticed that WMP adds a bass effect to my sound. I didn't really like it. To change the name, try right clicking on it and properties and editing it.

I am using WinAmp 3.0 and right clicking on an item in the playlist does not give me properties and editing. It gives me the following:
Play Focused Item
Enqueue/Dequeue
Remove Selected
Send to Playlist
Disable Playlist
Reload Info
Delete Info from Media Library
View File Info
Add
Sort
Playlist
Remove Duplicate Entries

It's possible WinAmp may give more bass since WinAmp seems to have a cleaner sound. But I don't notice the bass that much. What I notice is a cleaner sound. It is definately noticeable like about a 20 to 30 percent difference. Also I noticed that some sounds like background vocal lyrics were hardly noticeable with Windows Media Player but could be clearly heard with WinAmp. You just may be hearing more of the bass because the sound is cleaner.

i think he was talking about windows media player to begin with (wmp)... but i've noticed the crisp sound, too... i think it might be the equalizer feature with winamp.

There is an equalizer in WMP9 also.
