I want to transfer some files from my laptop over to a friend's laptop. We both have wireless cards. I am using a program called Boingo. Would that program detect his wireless card because I think it did when we were in an internet cafe as I think I noticed his laptop's name in Boingo. But I couldn't access his laptop with it. Would Boingo help in our connections. How would I set this up for wireless networking laptop to laptop.

I did a quick snoop on Boingo's website, but I didn't see anything that said Boingo was capable of File Sharing. You could try sharing the drives on both laptops and see if it works that way. Hope that helps.

you need to configure both wireless cards to adhoc mode, this will have them see each other and not look for an access point (which is infrastructure mode)
then you need to set it up like any other network, same workgroup, different names, enable sharing and you're set.

I like yellohut's suggestion better. :D
