First of all I was having a problem with winamp 2.91. I would play a song and the computer volume would go down half way. I had no idea why this was happening (i'm using winXP home). So I decided to uninstall winamp and then reinstall it. But when I went to download the file I saw that they had a new version, winamp 5, and that they didn't offer 2.91. So I downloaded 5 and it seemed to fix the problem (I found 2.91 on download.com later but i'll try out 5)

That's just a little tid bit. Check out Winamp 5 and let me know what you think

So here's my question about organizing MP3s. Ok I like to have my files organized and i'm sure many of you do as well. I usually organize my files by album or artist. Although, I'm stuck in a dilemma.

I have Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and also I have the Greatest Hits by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Now Scar Tissue is on both of those albums. So my question is should I have 2 copies of scar tissue with differnt ID3 tags (that would take up more space) or should I have one copy of it and leave off the Album in the ID3 tag (but that would defeat the purpose of the ID3 tag). Also in the library of winamp 5 the album info comes up when the album is typed into the the ID3 tag.

I had another idea. Put all the songs from one artist into one folder and just create lists of the different albums and link the songs to the one file (Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue).

Let me know what you think. I'm agonizing over this decision. I want to do it right the first way cause I have huge library and it would take a long time if I get it wrong.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

your really stressing over nothing, I just place all of the files for one artist in a folder and it works just fine. Just whatever you feel like.

Yeah, that's right. It doesn't really make a difference so long as you can find the music you're looking for and there is no sense to keep two copies because hard drive space can fill up pretty fast especially if you start getting into collecting music videos or movies. But personally I have to tell you this. I am extremely selective and there is no way in absolute hell that I would ever keep all the songs of a plain album. If a song doesn't have a good melody, it's out. If a musician doesn't have the brains or the decency to at least put a melody together than he shouldn't even be playing at all. It's amazing to me how many songs are out there that lack melody. It really doesn't take that much intelligence to create music and lyrics. Of course that is why the lyrics are so awful. And then you have those musicians and vocalists who are incapable of creating and writing music so they hire people to do it for them. I was screwing around with some friends on guitar and we just made up stuff and we all thought what we made up was better than 98 percent of the stuff out there. I have absolutely no respect for the majority of most music out there today. But yes, 2 percent of the music that's out there is good and that is what I keep if I can find it. I have seen people who have no taste in music. They just collect everything and have like 10,000 songs on their drive. It doesn't make sense to collect trash.
