Win 95 running slow!

Windows 95 running extremely slow.
It boots up to the desktop ok but then when i try and select something i.e. Start menu or explorer, it takes quite while to react.
Also when I try and shutdown I get the egg timer icon but nothing seems to happen. If I then press ctrl-alt-del, a dialogue box appears, highlighting "Find fast not responding".

Any ideas?

ps. what is find fast?

FastFind is part of the Microsoft Office installation. Insert your Office CD and re-do the choices you made (choose Custom). Leave fast find unchecked.

You can shut fast find down from Control Panel. There is an icon in there for its settings. Delete the indexes, close and stop. Take it out of the startup group in your start menu.
