When I boot up one of my computers, I get a Protection Fault message in DOS text right after the win98 logo after which I have to hit reset.
I can boot into Safe-Mode without problems. What would cause this and how can I fix it?
Thanks for any help.

Could be problems with your hardware drivers, did you add any new hardware, since safe mode doesn't load device drivers.

Nope no new hardware, it was working fine the night before, shut if off for the night, next morning..bam.. doesn't work.
Post the full text of the error, please. Search the MS Knowledge Base.

After teh win98 logo it drops to a dos screen with :
"Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer"
Thats it, so I reboot and it goes into safe mode, then i reboot again and it crashes again.
I did a step-by-step execution and it crashes right after I say 'Yes' to loading msmouse.vxd.

Ok, I figured out the solution. I uninstalled the mouse drivers in safe-mode and then rebooted then I did it a 2nd time and now it boots ok.
Thx anyway for your help.
