Hi

I got a little problem here. Every time I try to send a picture or file on msn messenger it tells me that it couldn't connect or something like that. I do recieve files, pictures and etc w/o any problems. I disabled the firewall that came w/ Pc-cilling 2002, but it didn't solve anything. I built this computer myself using an ASUS p4pe mobo and I'm using win xp pro. I'm not sure If any of these two has an integrated firewall or something like that, which is keeping me from sending files on messenger or if messenger itself is the problem. Please help me and thanks to any one willing to.

MSN Messenger's web site says it's not compatible with broadband routers, FWIW. I know some people get it working, but I suspect it's problematic for many. :)

not sure what your problem is, I have no problem with it at all.
make sure that you have the latest version 6.01 and try it again.
I have it working on 4 differant wideband router systems.
at the default settings.

Just to let U know: I use PC-Cilin 2002 with my Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB and I cannot use the MSN Messenger file Transfer Feature either. I have turned off the PC-Cilin Firewall and made sure the XP firewall was off also, and it didn't help. The only work around that I have found is to use it thru Yahoo.

Yahoo FT works for me--MSN doesn't.

Go Figure.....

Thanx!

Then this problem may very well have something to do with the PC-Cilin 2002 software

I've experienced the same problem, also with AIM. I have simply come to this comclusion - there is an integrated firewall provided by the ISP. In other words, your Internet provider, wherever it may be, prohibits that. I have a broadband wireless home network - no file transfer. I also have a school wireless broadband on its own server - FT works.

Hope that helps,
kram

*By the way, what do you mean by using a p4c800 mobo? Don't MOBOs have nothing to do with this?

Ok, I understand what u r saying, but....

If its the ISP then why does Yahoo file transfer work for me, but msn ft doesnt?

Yahoo FT works like a charm.

I would think they would both be blocked.
