3.0 would be the next generation. I figure the next one would be SP1. I wonder if he referred to the boy as the beta version before he was born.

Mike- hopefully you would choose another name at that point. But would the new kid be jealous as he would most likely be a 1.0 instead of a 2.0? What happened to version I imagine 1.1-1.9 were before birth. :)
But personally, I wouldn't condem my kid to geekdom- I'd simply wait till he's older than somewhat forcefully to become a geek. :p

They interviewed this guy on the radio this AM. He said it took him months to convince his wife of the name, and she finally okayed it after viewing some film where a newborn was named after a year. He's the quintessential computer geek - he even hacked the hospital's computer software so that it would allow for the 2.0 to be printed on the birth certificate (it only had options for Jr., II, III...).
He did mention something about their next child being SP-1 or something like that.
