The list that we see in Control Panel->Add\Remove Programs dialog box.
What is the procedure to delete entries that will not remove themselves after the program has been removed? This seems to be a common occurance and over time I have quite a few entries here that are invalid.
Thanks.
Hello spinoza,
go to Start > Run, type in REGEDIT
Then navigate (is like Windows-Explorer) to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
Look for the "folders" (in registry they're called keys) that contain those dead entries and simply remove them.
Be aware: Don't delete things from the registry you don't know of. It can be dangerous, and unlike Windows-Explorer the registry doesn't have a trash. Whatever you delete is gone forever.
You'll find more keys there than entries in the box, but just delete those with the dead ones.
Hope this helps.

It's a lot safer to install TweakUI to do this job.

Thanks for the solutions.
I haven't tried Tweak UI so I"m assuming it's a GUI tool of some sort that takes care of some Registry things among others. I don't mind going into the registry as it is still a bit of a mystery but that's why I like it I think. I sort of feel like Indiana Jones when I'm there-- meaning well but prone to misadventure!!
Anyway, I did it manually and it's all good. Thanks alot.
