sysconfig and autoexec.bat empty

WinME crashes all the time, so now I'm back to Win98se.
but when I run sysedit, the config and autoexec are empty.
what's wrong?

Depends. If you don't need any dos based program, you don't need any line there, so your system boots faster.

If you need dos based programs, or need to resize the dos conventional memory, enable sound in real-mode dos etc., then you'll need that files.

Do you actually need dos based programs ?

yup, I need that in order for me to run java.
so, I just edit the config.sys?? or what should I do to get the commands things in config.sys back.

actual, the system boot up already, but when it got to window the mouse just keeps working more than 20seconds. That never happened when I was using WinME. I'm not happy with that.

if you know what should be written into config.sys and autoexec.bat, simply write on it.
If not, reinstall your java, that should write all needed things there.
