iam stuck in ms-dos and this is the message that is on my screen. i cant load my win 98 disc. the hard disk drice has been reformatted so i dont have an operating system loaded into it, that is what iam trying to do. (reformate reload windows and the rest of my software)i have attempted to try fdisk but i dont think iam choosing the right options. do i somehow need to creat a dos partition? can anyone please help me ?

Yes you need to create a primary DOS partition and make it active, and large enough for windows to load. You need to use fdisk again and may have to delete whatever you have done, and start again to make a primary dos partition large enough, then reboot with the bootdisk and format that new partition, then windows should load without a hitch..

how do i restart my system in ms-dos, is there a command i can type at the command prompt ? like C:\>restart.........eventhough that one dont work. and thanis for responding to my post.

I believe the WIN98 CD gives you the option to format, but if it doesn't, boot with a WIN98 bootdisk (IF you don't have one, go to www.bootdisk.com) and at the A prompt.

Format C:/s

Then boot with your WIN98 CD.
