My friend and his "Band", (We're 13 :) ) came to me asking for some audio editing software. I'm looking at a few things,

I have Fruity Loops, which basically is a make own music thing, and Acid 4, which I have no clue what it does and am looking at Cakewalk Sonar 3, which I also have no clue what it does, but by the tag I'd say it works miracles.

Now I'm wondering what I can find that would help reduce the static/fuzz/unwanted noise brought in by recording, and something to easily control volume through out and easy to mix together. Much Appreciated

Okay, wait a minute. I applaud your desire to help your friend's band and learn about the recording process, but for a 13 year old, you've got some expensive tools. And Sonar 3 is very expensive - $300 for the basic package. It's also overkill for what you can accomplish - unless you've got a soundcard that can record 8 or more lines at one time.

The very idea that you have Acid 4 and have "no clue" how it works makes me very and I mean VERY leary of offering you any help on this - Acid is a very specific tool and anyone that would own it would own it for a reason. So I have my doubts to you actually owning Acid 4.

But I will offer you this : regarding the "static/fuzz/unwanted noise" - that's a product of the quality of your soundcard and the recording levels that you used as well a the quality of what was recorded.

Dave.

Do a Google search for Audacity, it is a simple recording editing program that is VST plug-in compatable. And it is free.
