I don't know whats wrong with my printer, but I get this lines everywhere, on the text, pictures. Ink is full, I just used it last week, and everything was fine. Did not do anything to the printer. I reinstalled the drivers. The printer is Canon S400SP - inks have individual cartridges. The connection is through the USB port. I think I'll link it. Its too big.

haha man. i had the same problem with a cheap cannon printer that used individual ink cartriges. my solution was to throw it in the corner of my office. and there it still sits. my epson 600 is still ticking after many fathfull years. as for your problem id call them up. cause personally im staying away from cannon printers. good stuff with cameras bad stuff with printers is what i say.

I've had this printer since 2001, Been going steady ever since. I think it is repairable. Sarcasm does not solve my problem

The nozzle heads might be clogged. In that cannon are the ink heads replaced when you replace the ink cartridge? On my old HP printer all I did was take a wet cue tip and cleaned the nozzle head and printing went back to normal.

The inks are all placed into a dock, which is a box that holds all the inks. From there, there is another head. When changing the ink, I only change the cartridge, not the box. The box will always be unchanged.

Looks like clogged print heads. Have you cleaned them, mystvearn?

The print heads on a Canon don't last forever. Time to change them (replace the "boxes").

xbenjix72: We don't make posts like that here if we want to stick around. Consider this a warning. The poster could care less what you think of his printer, he wants help solving a problem with it. You are free to express opinions like that in threads where someone is looking for recommendations to buy a printer, but sarcasm is still not appreciated.

Thanks. But isn't it hard to get just the box?I thought its one box per printer. I have not seen any at shops. I have seen inks, refils.

You need a BC-33e color cartridge with printhead (or the BC-30e for black only).

It's quite common for printheads to wear out, and need replacement. Unfortunately for me, the replacement head for my old Canon cost the same as a new printer!

The BC-33e runs about 50 bucks US, doesn't it?

Yep, about $50 USD.

Thats almost half of the cost of the printer. Am not too keen on buying it. Maybe a new printer. But this printer is only 3 years

Actually, that is one of the main reasons I went with HP years ago. You may pay a little more for ink, but you do get new print heads each time and prints continually look sharp. So, if you might look at new printers, take a look at HP.

I too like TwoRails went to HP. I had a Canon BJC6000. The black ink head went bad, bought a new one, week later color ink head went bad. Mine was about 2 - 3 years old. Looking at the picture it looks like both your heads are bad. I have since bought a used HP Deskjet 882C and a 890C, I am pleased with both.

Actually, with that setup, the BC-33e holds all 4 colors - the black-only (BC30?) holds a huge black tank. You put one or the other in the printer, not both.

Hi mystvearn,

Hope I didn't miss it above, but have you gone thru the motions of cleaning the heads and docking tray area?
