OK
I just recently ran an update for my network adapter.
3Com Etherlink 10 PCI TPO NIC (3C900B-tpo)
It didn't like the update so well.
I'm running Win 98SE. I rebooted. I went into Device Manager and it showed a ? next to the adapter signalling something had gone amiss. I checked the Driver tab and found that the NDIS.VxD and NTKERNEL.VxD could not load the driver.
OK. Fine.
I removed the driver. I booted into safe mode to see if there maybe was another instance in there. I removed it as well. I rebooted to redetect the adapter. I have the drivers that i got from 3coms website for the adapter, I stepped through the Wizard, chose the Have Disk option and to my surprise it said that it could'nt find the right files for the adapter. All files have been extracted from the drivers that I downloaded. It just simply won't pick up the INF files that I obviously see in front of me!!!
What else can I do to get the OS to recognize the driver?
I even went so far as to physically remove the card and started up - man, it didn't like that at all. Something about how my configuration had changed and that I should run through Windows Setup again. Just ludricrous. So at that point I did a scanreg restore and had my System up and running again but still not able to get it to accept the drivers.
HELP!!!!!!
