View Full Version : Shortcuts on CD

Hello all,

I have 2 questions:
For example, I want to make a CD with many programs. Two of them have the SETUP.EXE in subfolders, therefore I made a shortcut in the main folder.
But when I burn the whole thing to CD, the path changes. Well, the shortcuts seem to work anyway (even after renaming the source folder on hard drive).

1. Is there a possibility to make 'universal' shortcuts, no matter if the drive letter changes.

2. Why do the actual shortcuts work ? The path has changed.

I don't think there would be a . in front of the \ but that about right. the '\' takes the prompt to the root of the current drive.
2. could it be that it is in the path! ... because it was just there.

Thank you both for the replies.
I've tried that, and with DOS shortcuts (PIF) working fine. Unfortunately for Windows-Shortcuts when clicking on "Apply" the .\ or the \ (whatever I try) will be replaced by the actual drive letter.

Well, I'll keep them how they are now. The target PCs have the cdrom-drive as D:, the same as my 2nd partition, so there should be no problem. It worked.
No, archie, it's not in the path. I renamed the complete folder and run the shortcut inside it. Well, it worked anyway.

Thanks again.
