We need some more information. What version of windows are you running (XP Home, Professional, Media Center, etc)

What happened just before the BSOD?

Did you remove any hardware?

What are your system specs?

Here is a link to the STOP: 0x0000008E that list all ossible problems.

No, thank Google.

As an aside, this is the reason I won't deal with M$ routers and wireless devices - they are the ONLY ones that REQUIRE you to install their bloated software.

go into ' computer management ' & check your system logs, theres usually a big clue in there

to get there, right click 'my computer' & choose 'manage'

So glc you are saying that PC-Cillian isn't a good Anti Virus Software? If so what other Anti Virus programs do you suggest?

At work we use Norton. It seems to work pretty well. No complaints with it.

PC-Cillin is a fine antivirus scanner, but in this case it is causing a conflict with adrianse's machine. If you did want to change, it is a matter of personal preference, but Norton is good....
here is a thread you should have a look at.....

That's not what I said at all, Pat - I was dissing Microsoft routers and wireless products. THEIR software conflicts with PC-Cillin.
