monitor repairs

I have 2 17' monitors that stopped working.
Both have the same symptoms and basically stopped for the same reason.

No sign of powerl, except for the LED blinking on both of them. And one of them clicks with the blinking.

Any ideas on what I should replace or somewhere that works on them that won't charge an arm and leg?

Oh, btw, I am in Northeastern Ohio.

I hate to tell you this, but with 17 in CRT monitors selling below one hundred bucks, the ones you have are best left to the recycle center, unless they are still under warranty (3 years for most). Any technician is going to charge you half the cost of a new one just for looking at it, and that is if you can find one.

$50.00 would be the normal minium I would charge, plus parts.

I know it can be done cheaper than buying new, since I have had a few tell me what they think it most likely is.

I can get the parts cheap, just a matter of finding what it is for sure, then getting it done or doing it myself...lol.

Found a few places that would do it at very reasonable price, but none so far close enough to me...

I hope you understand the risk involved with the stored voltages inside a monitor. The can make for a very bad day.

Confused is 100% on the money! The storged charge (even after years of not being plugged in) can KILL. No joke..I say don't mess with it.

Yes, I do understand the capacitors hold a very high charge for long periods of time.

But I also know that they can be discharged.

I would prefer to have someone else do it, that is for sure.
