I was thinking about buying this (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-923&catalog=5&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1) drive from newegg. Has anyone used one or does anyone have any recommendations for a dvd rw drive?

Thanks

Yup... I've had good luck with LiteOn and LG DVDRW's so far.

The + format is supposed to be better for computer data.

I have just bought the Liteon 851s and am generally very pleased. As with most DVD RW I have had to experiment with media until I found one it likes (TDK) but I still cannot get it to write +RW at more than 4x. I have flashed the firmware and checked the DMA settings. Any ideas???

That's all it's going to do. That is a 8x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 4x DVD-R, 2x DVD-RW drive.

Do you have 8x certified media?

Just installed the drive and it works great. Nero found the drive and gives me a choice of which drive I want to use; the LiteOn DVD burner or the LiteOn CD burner. I am impressed; Compusa did not have 8X DVD+ disks so I bought the 4X they had in stock. When I burned my first disk, it showed as burning at 8X speed.
