Hi I'm in the midst of building a new system ,currently I have a Amd 2600 chipset, gigabyte K7 triton board, 512 ddr ram, 80 gig hd.
I've been looking for a good gaming video card. Kinda leaning towards the - Ati Radeon 9600 xt 128md card. OR v9570-td fx5700 256ddr. So far i'm kinda favouring the the radeon.
Q 1, Which is the better gaming card?
Q 2, What model should i look into? Asus, sapphire, gigabyte etc....?
Q 3, Any suggestions on a really good gaming card for under $300 ?
Thnx for any advice I get!

thnx, but from what I've seen they're still over $400. (canadian at least).
After reading the forums, I settled on getting the ~sapphire ati Radeon 9600 XT 128mb ~. I hope it serves my gaming needs well.

Thnx for any advice I get! [/B] 1 - In almost every reliable review magazine, the Radeon 9600XT edges out the GF FX 5700. ATI was a very prudent choice there.
2 - Asus if you can afford it. Asus has VIVO functions - Video in and out. It lets you strem multimedia into your computer for editing and stuff.
3 - Under three hundred? ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, I believe, would be in Can. Dollars for around 270.
Hope that helps,

Hi, ok thnx for the tip!
I looked at the 9700 pro, not a bad card. However I did go with 9600xt. From what I read the 9600 and 9800 share some simularities in chipset.. and the 9700 has a whole different chipset. (something along those lines anyway). Aswell I don't really need the vivo functions. This is purly a gaming machine. (kinda why I'm not going with the 9800 pro or any "pro" card.)
I have my home theatre to entertain me if need be. :-)
Thnx for the advice guys!
