I just installed a new CD-RW. I've tested the CD and burner and I know that all is good but my Easy CD Creator software cannot find the new burner. I have version 3.5. The software must have been installed on the computer when I bought it...I can't find my installation disk. Does anyone know how to change the settings in this software so that it will find my new CD-RW?

Being that old (v3.5) the software is not recognizing the new drive. Try going to Roxio's Web site and see if they offer any realitively new updates / patches. If so, then great. If not, it may be time to get up to date software.

Roxio has had problems with the older versions not recognize the drive. Once you register you should be able to download the update with no trouble.

actually, roxio has nothing for support on their site any longer for anything older than cd creater 4, or possibly 5, i forget which.

i had contacted them a while ago because i had to reinstall easy cd creator 3.5, and i have some upgrades that i had downloaded a year or two ago, but they needed to be installed in a specific order, and i had forgotten the proper order for them.

they had no downloads available for version 3x, and when i emailed them asking for the correct order to install the updates, they wouldn't help me, and told me i should upgrade to their latest version instead.

I just looked, and 5.x is the oldest they show for updates.

Newer drives definitely won't be supported by older versions of Easy CD. What software did your drive come with, if any? Consider installing the current version of Nero; it's better than older versions of Nero, and IMO better than Easy CD.

3.5 is really obsolete. It won't convert mp3's to cd audio, it doesn't support burnproof drives. Uninstall it and install the software the new drive came with, even if it's basic barebones, it's gonna be better than EZ 3.5.

This appears to be the second post today I've seen of people maybe purchasing OEM drives when it may have been prudent to purchase a RETAIL box.

Easy CD 4 probably won't support anything higher than 24x, if you had all the updates. Roxio 5 will support most CD drives. But it takes a few updates and a bit to get it going.

Forget EZ-CD and get a copy of Nero. Or if you don't want to spend any money get Deepburner which is free at the site below.

If you go for Deepburner be sure and stay currant with the updates as they fix bugs often.
