Have new build with Western Digital Raptor SATA Hard Drive..Used A7N8XE-Deluxe m/b and 2500 Barton - 1 G. Corsair 3200 Value Select memory. I have read the posts regarding floppy copies and using F6 when installing Windows XP Home Ed. and copied all SATA Driver files from m/b disk, copying all but GUI, Linux, PDF and one read file. Tried but Windows Setup could not find HD...Tried again, and again, no luck. Made new floppy - no luck. Checked jumpers and they are correct (Thank heavens, i would never have got those little things covered, lol.) There are 2 Raid SATA connections on motherboard, tried them both, no luck. Wondering if I need to do something in my bios. The Bios recognizes the HD but as a slave drive showing no Master drive. I am at wits end and ready to return it for the good ole IDE Drive. Any suggestions..Help will be appreciated. By the way, even downloaded SIG SATA Windows Driver from W/D Home site - HELP!!!!!!!

Don't touch the jumpers on the SATA drive, as they're factory set and don't need to be changed. In BIOS, you may have an IDE Config menu, and Onboard IDE setting should be set to Enhanced Mode. Also, set Support On setting to S-ATA. Dunno, but maybe that will help...

I had a similiar problem. Even though the cd contained the drivers for the SATA controller windows setup would not recognize them; telling me that a certain file could not be found on the MB disk, even though when I looked at the contents of the disk I could see it. I ended up burning just the SATA controller driver on another disk and then it worked fine. ALthough there was one more hurdle, my software had drivers for two differnet SATA controllers, process of elimination, windows wouldn't recognize the wrong driver so I couldn't proceed. without the right one.
