Where would someone get bulk computer equipment

Anyone know how/where little mom and pop stores get cheap hardware to resell?? I've looked for wholesalers on the net and they are all just retailers using the word wholesale.

The manufacturers web sites often list their "manufacturers reps". Might try them or contact the manufacturers whose products you want to sell and ask them to advise you on who to contact.

They don't get it any cheaper than you do - but they often buy offbrand garbage to try to be competitive. I was researching SCSI hard drives for a customer last night - they can buy them cheaper at Newegg than my cost from my trade-only distributor, the particular drive I was looking at was $159.50 at my distributor and $150 at Newegg.

I would advise you to stay out of the hardware reselling business or at least don't make it your focus. Service work is the only real way to make money.

You cant really buy in bulk from www.newegg.com

Usually they have limits of 3 or 5 or 10 motherboards. You might be better off finding a distributor from the actual company. You probably cant get really good deals unsless you purchase motherboards by the thousands. I would guess that motherboard vendors have incentive programs and stuff like that.

I just thought they must get parts really cheap to be able to put together some of those systems for next to nothing. When I add up what is supposedly in them it doesn't leave any room for profit.

Have you field stripped one of those cheapie computers yet to see what parts they REALLY use? I have. Can you say PC CHIPS with all components onboard, and a flimsy case with a DEER power supply?

Yes, I guess that makes the most sense glc. Deals that sound to good to be true usually are.
