modem woes

I have a PCI modem here - the label states it's an M56HI model and it was originally set up as a Boca Winstorm 56k Modem.
I have been searching now, on and off, for 3 days for a suitable driver for Win98SE (I've tried over 40 drivers) with no luck.
There are two chips (HCF?) and they are labelled as follows:

The FCC ID No. is EUDUSA-25432-M5-E

I have tried an FCC search which came back 'no result'.

Anyone point me in the direction of the correct driver?

I have tried both those links already and when I try to set the drivers up, Windows says they are not suitable?

If they are correct, should I try removing all the dial-up networking stuff etc. first?

I'vr tried that one too GLC - would the problem be with DUN or something related?

If you were in the US, my next step would be to toss the modem and put a good hardware based modem in it. Boca has been out of business since 2002.

Try booting into safe mode and removing ALL com ports and modems from device manager and see if you have any better luck with the Boca driver. I don't see why it's giving you grief - that's pretty much a standard Rockwell HCF based winmodem. Plug and play should accept that Boca driver if you use the have disk - browse function to install it.

I'll give it a go - why does living in the US make any difference?

I'm still going to chuck it out soon - it's not worth the time!

I can't find any decent hardware modems listed on the UK vendor sites other than external serial jobs, and those aren't cheap. Here you can get a true hardware US Robotics (model 2977) for $40. I just don't like software based modems, and I don't like Intel chipset modems, and that's about all you folks have over there any more.

I've always found the Diamond modems seem to be a cinch to install - maybe I'll just bite the bullet!
