Dear friends, I supose this imply several knowledges:

I want to achieve this task.

1- Do my computer switch on autimatically every day at the same hour.

2- Conect to Internet and open a site.
(This site is: "http://www.mecon.gov.ar/download/puertos/internet.xls" - download an Exel file whith a daily information)

3- "File as" this .xls in an specific folder, but instead of the mane sugested (which is "Internet.xls"), to write for example: "pp 2001-02-15",
2001-02-15, should be the current date (year, month, day).

4- Swith of the computer.

Thanks in advance if somebody sugest something.

I can't give you specifics, but it would probably involve using Windows Task Scheduler and some batch file scripting.

For example, you could have Task Scheduler start Internet Explorer with that URL as an argument. The command line would look something like this:

iexplore http://www.yoursite.com/filename.xls

(The only catch is that you'd have to tell Internet Explorer to always save files of that type)

Once the file is downloaded, you could run a second task that uses a BAT file to rename it.

Maybe that will spark some more ideas for you.

Hi Dave22,

There are many programs that help to script automated tasks and macros. I don't have any experience with any, but check out some the the ones here:

http://softseek.zdnet.com/Utilities/Keyboard_Mouse_Macros_and_Batch_Processing/
or
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Shareware/Windows_95_98/Utilities/Automation/

Hope that helps.

But you have to keep your PC running. Switching on automatically is difficult, if not impossible. (you can of course buy a monkey and train it to switch on the PC)

Depending on motherboard. Asus boards have the option to turn on at the same time every day...
