I just got a generic sales pitch from a toner company addressed to "friend@republic.com". Now how the heck do these people find me, since I've never heard of the before or after of @. I mean, I use all of OEs tools to block or send to the dumster but now they are coming in the back door. the name of the selling site was toner5@yep.com.
There are plenty of these "toner-phoneys" around, but it was always by telephone, 100 guys in a basement pushing over-priced, low qualiy copier and printer toner.
But I digess; How are they finding me thru this republic .com?

They are using bulk mailing software or a service - they work like blind carbon copies. They have bought a mailing list which you happen to be on. That's a phony return address too. If you care, you might be able to figure out where it really came from if you examine the full headers.

It sounds like you need some freeware, Bounced Spam Mail (http://www.sover.net/~whoi/Internet1.html). It'll send the spam back like your e-mail addy is dead!

Thanks for the replies. How does it detect SPAM from non-spam? As OE has filters too.
