stress testing

recently, i was overclocking and i ran prime 95 for about 4 hours and my pc did not crrash. I was pretty convince that my pc is stable and did not bother running prime95 anymore. As I am into games, I downloaded the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo and played with 31 bots. Within a few minutes, my pc crashed. The same thing happen when I tried it again. I then lowered my fsb and amazingly, Unreal ran without any problems now. Does this mean that Unreal Tournament 2004 is a good stress tester?

when you ran prime, did you remember to set the priority to 10?

ok, i just set my fsb to a known unstable setting. For unreal, it crashed the pc just after it loaded the game at the main menu. For prime95, it took 2 minutes to crash the pc. So probably i did not set the priority to 10 the last time. Unreal is faster at crashing unstable pcs. In future, i think i will use both programs to test my stability. Or maybe i will just use UT2k4, cause i can play an stress test at the same time. :)

you need to use a multitude of games to test a PC's stability. not just games, apps and the like too. Some programs/apps use different utilization of the processor. It isn't just go or no go.
